Sydney Institute of Marine Science:
Crayweed and Cabbage

Cabbage Tree Bay in Manly, NSW, is perhaps Sydney's most spectacular example of a well-managed and biodiverse marine sanctuary. But it wasn’t always this way. Prior to 2002, the area was under pressure from commercial and recreational fishing, pollution and boating, until the local community recognised the importance of preservation and protection. Now declared a ‘no-take’ zone, through a mix of underwater cinematography and interviews, we supported scientists from ‘Operation Crayweed’ to document and share their great work restoring Sydney’s underwater forests.

This film was a finalist in the Frankie Good Stuff Awards 2020.
